Sampling Method and Study Design: Based on a representative sample of about 9,000 respondents of the non-institutionalised population age 15 and over in Canada's ten provinces. The telephone survey of a sample reached by random digit dialling employed the yesterday method to obtain 24-hour diary information on daily activities starting at 4:00am. the questionnaire included references to health, disability, and caring. People supplied starting and ending times of activities (no set time slots)
Sample Size: 12,765 households selected; 9,815 households fully responded
Response Rate: 77%
Weighting Procedures: The sample weighted to adjust for the 2% of the Canadian population which does not have a telephone
